　　A time when I told my friend an important truth happened when I was in high school. Cathy and I were dorm mates as well as best friends then.

　　As far as I remember, almost all my classmates were worried about their performance in the final exam but my best friend Cathy was quite excited since she was going to take a holiday abroad with her family when this semester ended. Although she was equally nervous about the results, she didn't want to be disturbed by the feeling of fear. I was the class

monitor and I could get the results one night before they were declared to the whole class.

　　Unfortunately, Cathy’s result was obviously not up to her expectations. At first, I was wondering whether I should keep her poor grades confidential as she was filled with joy

egarding her trip. But finally, I made a phone call to her and informed her about the results though it might affect her joyful state of mind. As for what my friend’s reaction, she was

frustrated and deeply influenced by the truth. And she told me the other day that she cried almost all night. When it comes to why I think it was important to tell her the truth, on the one

hand, I think there should be no lies, even white lies, between friends since our friendship is built on truth and integrity.

　　On the other hand, I didn’t want to cause misunderstandings because I held back the truth and I cherished our friendship a lot.
